Private Villa – Basement

Completion Date: 2018
Application Type: Basement Waterproofing System
Materials Used

Two-component, polymer-modified bituminous coating (PMBC), highly durable and crack-bridging, applied as a thick protective layer for structural elements exposed to water – DEUXAN 2C.

Project Overview

The project faced a major engineering challenge of waterproofing the basement after construction had been completed. The original design did not incorporate a Tanking System, leaving the already-executed foundations and raft at risk of water ingress.

Solution Implemented

The DEUXAN 2C system provided the ideal solution for this case. This bituminous waterproofing sealant is applied as a plastering method to achieve a continuous 4 mm-thick layer across the entire surface, eliminating any overlaps that could create weak points. Its direct adhesion to the substrate prevents water migration between the waterproofing layer and the concrete—an issue often seen with sheet-based systems, especially when no Tanking System is in place.

Technical Advantages
  • High resistance to water pressure, soil movement, and cracking.
  • 4 mm application thickness with reinforcement layer, capable of bridging cracks up to 6 mm.
  • Long-term protection against water penetration and moisture.
  • Prevention of radon gas infiltration into the basement, ensuring a healthy indoor environment.
Outcome

A fully effective and integrated basement waterproofing system was achieved, ensuring structural protection and enhancing the building’s performance over the long term.
